December 30th 2001 was a beautiful crisp sunny day.
6 WLA cars (including Nick, pretending that his Mercedes was a '5 :-) met up at
a lay-by on the A404 near Marlow, Bucks. After a short wait for a straggler, and
a quick briefing from Bob on our route, we set off.
Bob had found some great scenery and some lovely twisty roads (enjoyed with care
in the chilly conditions!), and even took us through the village of Christmas
Common! A brief toilet stop at a pub called The Dog turned into an early lunch
(Beef and Yorkshire puds abound!) as standing around we all realised we were
feeling a bit cold and peckish! Then we headed on to Newbury, finishing perfectly
on time as a light festive snowfall arrived!
