The weather may have started a little gloomy, but soon perked up and it turned out to be a great sunny spring day. In total there were 7 cars for the drive, with many of the 'old regulars' turning out, in contrast to the February drive when it was nearly all newcomers! Having said that, James & Becky were new faces and came all the way from North Thames Area to join us. ![]() We took the A286, a fantastic twisty road through countryside and little towns and villages, down to Goodwood, where we stopped for a quick photo session. No, you are not mistaken, we had our regular 'rogue' SLK with us. We were a bit disappointed that Andy Cohen hadn't brought his TVR Tuscan S with him. It really is like stepping back in time at Goodwood motor racing circuit - they've done a great job of keeping to the period feel. Nothing was going on at the circuit, so we soon headed on to Arundel for a lunch stop. We found a great pub (the Red Lion) and as the weather was so good we sat in the pub garden munching away on some good pub grub! After that we had a wander round the town and saw the huge castle folly. ![]() Then the fun really started, with a tricky twisty drive back on a mixture of A, B and minor roads to 'the big smoke'. We even managed to get caught up in the end of a cycle race! Thanks to Nick Jarman for the photos and Russell Wheatley, Kev Hamilton and Nicole Hill for the suggested destinations (even though Nicole couldn't make it!). Report by Bob Pain |
