Countryside Drive & BBQ (15 Aug 2004)

From our meeting point at Oxford Services on the M40, Jason and Nicole's route took us through some fantastically scenic roads of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The route was very well planned as it almost completely avoided A-roads, roundabouts and traffic lights - quite a feat in the congested South East!

The added bonus of this route was that the convoy of 12 cars remained intact from start to finish, a very impressive job done there by Jason. The total mileage for the drive was just over 50 miles and with about 45 turns along the way and some narrow country roads this took us about an hour an a half to complete.

The final resting place was Jason & Nicole's beautiful country cottage and gardens where we met up with other friends of theirs for a BBQ. The weather was superb, so everyone had a relaxed afternoon tucking into the BBQ and chatting about the drive. While people had brought along supplies for the barbie and drinks, our hosts were more than generous with bread, salad and crisps. Then to help finish us off they brought out fruit and cream on meringue nests!

Thanks to Jason & Nicole for organising a beautiful drive and a top barbie.
