16-17 Sept 2006 - National Rally This year the National Rally is at Lincolnshire Showground.
For those who either wish to book for the dinner on Saturday night, or would like
to indicate which of the drives and events being held on Saturday or Sunday you wish
to participate in, would you please complete the form that was sent out to you in
June’s STHT and send it to: Please write either your phone number, or email address on the back of the form, in case you have to be contacted and enclose a S.A.E. - thank you. Also please add to the list of car competitions: BK5 (best kept 5) for Mk.1's and BK5 for Mk.2/2.5's. Write in pen on the form BK5 - Mk1 or BK5 - Mk2/2.5) and tick it, if you wish to enter your car. Added Events: The aborted competitions from the Spring Rally (Aunt Sally and Wheel Change) have been added to the National Rally. Teams of five are invited from any area that wishes to compete in the Aunt Sally competition. Do we have any takers to represent West London? The August monthly meeting will give us a chance to discuss what everyone is doing about attending the National Rally. I know some of you would be interested in making a longer weekend of it and camping nearby, but that will depend on us finding a suitable venue (the Showground only being available for the Saturday night). 2 Oct 2006 - Monthly Meeting at the Café Dysart Our usual monthly meeting. 8 Oct 2006 - Autumn Drive Just time to fit in a drive before the clocks change and the nights really start to draw in :-( We will meet at Fleet Services between junctions 4A and 5 on the M3 heading out of London. Meet from 09:30 for a 10:00 departure. We usually park in a quiet area near the entrance to the car park, well away from the buildings. Still planning the route at the moment, but there will be a pub lunch stop along the way. 6 Nov 2006 - Monthly Meeting at the Café Dysart Our usual monthly meeting. 16 Nov 2006 - Britcar 'Into the Night' Race At Brands Hatch. With nights drawing in early, this is an opportunity to see racing in the dark without having to stay up late! There will be racing from the European Endurance Racing Championship package including a Britcar ‘Into the Night’ race. It was quite a sight last year! Entry is £12 on the gate or £10 if bought online in advance. For details go to BrandsHatch.co.uk and look out for Britcar Night Race 18/11/06. If anyone fancies coming along then drop me an e-mail or give me a call and we can arrange a meeting point. Please note this is a Saturday! Dec 2006 - NO Monthly Meeting this month Please note that due to the Xmas Meal, the regular monthly meeting will not take place in December. 3 Dec 2006 - Xmas Meal In a break with tradition, this year I’ve decided to hold the Christmas Meal on a Sunday at lunch time and go for a central London venue. Hopefully this will allow more people to attend and means you can use public transport and enjoy a drink or two ;-) This is in response to feedback from previous years. I’ve chosen Sofra Restaurant & Bar in Covent Garden (36 Tavistock Street, London WC2E 7PB) which is a restaurant I've visited many times and which has reasonably priced Christmas menu options, starting at £14.95 a head. The food is described as "Turkish home cooking with an eclectic mix of Mediterranean, Middle-Eastern and even Oriental styles". I will find out more details (e.g. deposits and final dates for numbers) and bring along the menu options to the October meeting so that I can start making bookings. Please let me know promptly if you are going to come along so that I have an idea of numbers and can let you have the final arrangements. This event replaces the usual monthly pub meeting. 8 Jan 2007 - Monthly Meeting at the Café Dysart Our usual monthly meeting.
As well as the pub meet, we try to organise a drive and/or event each month. If you have any ideas, or would be interested in attending any of the suggestions below, please get in touch with us.
We can't guarantee that all these events will happen, but at least it's a start. There's always room for more events, so if you don't like what's here, email us some ideas. |
